66 achievements of this Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award have stood out through formal review, letter review, preliminary review and final review. Among them, Pan Yunhe, member of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, leader of the National New Generation AI Strategic Advisory Committee, and academician of the CAE Member, won the highest achievement award. Chen Junlong, academician of the European Academy of Sciences, chair professor of South China University of Technology, and dean of the School of Computer Science, won the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Artificial Intelligence, Hou Zengguang of the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and others completed projects such as “intelligent human-computer interaction control methods for rehabilitation robots”, which won the first prize of the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Natural Science Award, and Han Junwei of Northwestern Polytechnical University and others completed the “high-altitude UAV precise observation technology”, which won the first prize of the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Technology Invention Award, Kunyun Technology won the first prize of the Artificial Intelligence Special Award (Chip Project) for its “AI Reasoning Chip Development and Application Based on Customized Data Stream Technology”. Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award is sponsored by the Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence. It is supported by Wu Wenjun, a pioneer and leader of China’s intelligent science research, the winner of the first National Highest Science and Technology Award, an academician of the CAS Member, and the honorary chairman of the Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence. It is the first award named “artificial intelligence” in Chinese history, and is qualified to nominate and recommend the National Science and Technology Award, It is honored as “the highest award for intelligent science and technology in China”.
The first prize of the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Special Award chip project was won by the artificial intelligence chip company Kunyun Technology. Its award-winning project is “AI inference chip development and application based on customized data stream technology”, marking a new breakthrough in China’s key technology of tackling the “bottleneck” in the AI chip field. This project is based on Kunyun Technology’s research and development foundation in the artificial intelligence data stream architecture, focusing on the broader AI inference computing power demand in the future, carrying out research and development of AI inference chip CAISA and corresponding development tool chains, leading international technological innovation in the field of artificial intelligence chips.
Unlike traditional instruction set architectures, which rely on instructions such as read, move, and write back to complete each data operation, the data flow architecture CAISA developed by Kunyun Technology relies on data flow order to complete target computing, which can eliminate a large number of idle computing units caused by instructions, break through the “Von Neumann bottleneck” caused by poor instruction handling and storage time, significantly improve chip utilization, and reduce unit computing cost.
The CAISA data stream architecture simplifies the computing process from the underlying design, and the chip utilization rate can reach 95.4%. The computational power and cost performance ratio is significantly ahead of similar AI chip products. Compared with the edge flagship products of international mainstream chip manufacturers, the measured performance is up to 4.12 times higher.
