Ranking of chip OEM and testing manufacturers in the third quarter: Taiwan manufacturers are too strong to compete globally
As we all know, in the field of semiconductors, Taiwan can be said to be the most sound place in the global industrial chain. It has formed a semiconductor ecosystem based on OEM, covering materials, equipment, IC, manufacturing, sealing and testing and other fields.
How strong are Taiwanese manufacturers in the semiconductor field? We may see the clues through the latest two sets of data.
Ranking of chip OEM and testing manufacturers in the third quarter: Taiwan manufacturers are too strong to compete globally
First of all, in terms of chip OEM, according to the data of the third quarter of 2021, Top10 OEM enterprises have taken 97% of the overall OEM market share, so it is basically enough to look at the top 10 manufacturers.
Among the top 10 manufacturers, the Taiwan-based manufacturers account for 4, namely, TSMC, Liandian, Li Jidian, and the world’s leading manufacturers, ranking 1, 3, 7, and 8. The total share is about 64%, accounting for almost two thirds of the world.
Among the top 10, there are 2 Korean manufacturers, with a share of 18.1%. There is only one in the United States, with a share of 6.1%. There are two in Chinese Mainland, with a share of 7.8%, and one in Israel, with a share of 1.4%, which is enough to compare the strength of the Japanese manufacturers.

In terms of chip packaging and testing, the same top 10 manufacturers account for more than 95% of the global market share, so you can see the situation of the entire industry by looking at the top 10 manufacturers.
As shown in the figure below, among the top 10 manufacturers, Taiwan manufacturers accounted for 6, including Sunrise, Silicon Products, Licheng, Kyoto Electric, Nanmao and Xinbang, ranking 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th and 10th, with a total share of 54.3%, accounting for more than half of the world.
Among the top 10 manufacturers, only one manufacturer from the United States was on the list, with a share of 18.9%, while three manufacturers from Chinese Mainland were on the list, with a total share of 26.9%. By contrast, Taiwanese manufacturers have no rivals.

In fact, taking a comprehensive view of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry chain, in addition to manufacturing and testing, IC design is also very good. In terms of global market share, it is about 20%, second only to the United States, ranking second in the world.
So, despite the small area and small population of Taiwan Province, the achievements in semiconductor are really worth learning from, because they are really awesome, don’t you think?
